Dear Cal Students:
The Berkeley Korean-American Alumni Association (BKAA) is now accepting applications for the 2017 BKAA Undergraduate Scholarship. BKAA intends to award multiple scholarships to selected applicants in the amount of $2,500 each. Scholarship recipients will be invited to attend BKAA's annual banquet in Los Angeles, CA (attendance is not necessary to receive the award).
What is BKAA?
BKAA is a Berkeley alumni group comprising of Korean Americans or those who have an interest in the Korean American community. BKAA’s purpose is to build a community of Berkeley Korean-American alumni, assist one another with professional growth and development, and promote commerce, culture, and education in the community.

What is the BKAA Undergraduate Scholarship?
The BKAA Undergraduate Scholarship was created to recognize and award current Berkeley undergraduate students who have made and continue to make significant and/or unique contributions to the Korean American community, either at Berkeley or in their hometowns. BKAA will award selected recipients a scholarship of $2,500 each. BKAA expects to inform the applicants of the results by December 1, 2017.
What are the Qualifications?
The application requirements are:
1. Must be a current UC Berkeley undergraduate student.
2. Demonstrated financial need.
3. Scholastic or other achievements.
4. A commitment to serve the Korean American community.
5. A telephonic interview and/or further information may be required.
How to Apply:
The applicant must complete the attached application form, and provide a current unofficial transcript, resume and personal statement. The personal statement should be no longer than 2 pages and should describe the following: (a) the applicant’s financial status, including any financial aid being received and the applicant’s present employment, if any; (b) the applicant’s scholastic achievements or other awards or accomplishments; and (c) the applicant’s past or current service to the Korean American community and/or the applicant’s plans to serve the Korean American community in the future. You may submit other materials or documents that support your application, so long as it can be sent via email. The completed application and requested documents should be submitted by December 5, 2017, no later than 11:59 pm PDT. Please forward your application via email to:
